BLACK LITERACY CODE
Learn About Us
Black Literacy Code (BLC) is a Black-led nonprofit founded in 2020 to challenge misconceptions about Black history and culture. Through art and storytelling, we empower communities with accurate representation and education.
We create spaces for Black creators to showcase their talent, celebrate heritage, and inspire change.
Our Vision
Our Mission
Our mission is to REACH, EMPOWER, and EQUIP our communities with accurate information about various Black Countries, their History & their Culture.
We aim to promote inclusion, accurate depiction of people of colour, and to build stronger and well- informed communities.

OUR IMPACT & PROGRAMS
What do We Offer?

Our Libary
At Black Literacy Code ( BLC) we aim to establish Alberta’s first Black Library. Our goal is to supply our community with fictional and non-fictional books written by black authors and individuals that are passionate about black culture & its rich history.
The non-fictional books depict black culture, history, and heritage from all African countries, the Caribbean, Afro American, Afro-Latin and Afro-Canadians and Afro Indigenous communities.
We hope to launch our library in 2023 with your support. Click the button below to see how you can make this a reality!
